About Tara
Hello,
Allow me to introduce myself, I am Tara Boerner, born and raised in NY, don't worry the accent is barely there. I have been a Californian for over 22 years, and love it.
I was, as some would say called into this field since I was a little girl. I am highly empathetic and have the ability to provide keen insight to all around me.
My therapeutic style is eclectic. I am Solution focused, behavioral and cognitive in my approach. I will challenge your thinking, provide you with coping skills and help to guide you through your evolving heart. I have helped so many people and aside from "Thank you!" The best comment I have received is, "You know exactly how to put into words the emotions I am feeling, and provide such creative feedback, with a gentle touch."
Education
My education is from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. After being a stay-at-home mom for 10 years, I decided to return to school in 2003 to pursue a career in psychology. I earned Master of the Arts degree at Phillip’s Graduate Institute specializing in Child and Adolescent Psychology. After 2 ½ years interning, I became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I opened my private practice in 2009, where I work with children, teens, and their parents.
I enjoy working with the younger generations to help them achieve their goals. Occasionally I will include behavioral evaluations where I observe children in both the home and school environments, provide support plans for parents and teachers. I have learned through personal experience how important it is to have a neutral party help you navigate those tumultuous years.
In addition, I also specialize in a wide variety of issues in adults, as well as youth. I have a great understanding for women's issues, a knowledgeable background in men's issues, couples therapy, and divorce support. I have a strong, insight on fighting cancer and dealing with the after effects. I am trained in trauma work and am a Certified Disaster Mental Health Response Specialist.
